Despite what many people think its not impossible to copy Wii games. Yes, they are copy protected so you just cannot stick them into your PC and drag and drop the files onto a new disc because this wont work. You see the programmers use all sorts of nasty little tricks to stop this happening, otherwise everyone would just make copies instead of buying the originals. This makes it very difficult to copy original Wii games.
However, I did say that it was difficult - not impossible, because there are times when it makes good sense to make a backup of your original discs. For example, if you have kids then you know how badly they treat game discs. My two regularly trash their Wii games by just being careless, and with new games costing $20-$30 a time, the cost soon mounts up. That's why I always use specialist copying software to backup my Wii games before giving the copies to my kids to break if they want to!
A blank DVD disc costs only a few cents these days and with the right game copying software it really is just a very quick and easy job to protect your investment. The best software usually works by just performing a 'photocopy' of the original disc. In that way, everything on the disc including the copy protection is transferred to the blank disc so there are no problems with the copy running in your Wii. All you have to do is install the game copying software, take an image of the original disc onto your PC's hard drive - this just takes 1 click of a button - and then transfer the image back onto the blank backup disc, again with just a single click of a button.
I reckon that the $30 or so that this software costs is well worth it compared to the hundreds of dollars of damage that my kids used to do to their original discs. Now I can actually enjoy playing the games with them instead of worrying about how much they are costing me.
