Worm writers increasingly intelligent
Given that malware authors are constantly infected new tactic, one should practice extra effort to avoid the intrusion of malware on your computer. One way is to use the AutoRun feature. Worms usually creates an autorun.inf file, which allows the malwareautomatically on the system running, without user intervention. As such, the creation of a folder or file, and rename it to autorun.inf can ideally prevent worms infecting in this way.

However, this method is not perfect. Worms can delete the existing file AUTORUN.INF and a folder, and replaced by a malicious, denies protection in the process. Still, it's better to use file permissions to restrict possible changes.

To implement these preventive measures, just follow the instructions below. Make sure your external drive is formatted with NTFS, since this method uses a feature of NTFS. If your removable disk is formatted with FAT or FAT32, a backup copy of all data on the disc said, then reformat to NTFS. This may require Windows Vista or Windows 7

Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and go to the root of removable disk.
Set the folder attributes with the following DOS command: attrib autorun.inf / s / s + from + r

Set the privilege level of the folder with the following DOS command:cacls autorun.inf / C / D administrators

Select "Y" and press ENTER when the message is, 'Are you sure (Y / N)? "Appears.
To prove this, try to delete, edit, copy, rename, or open the folder you created. If you can not perform these functions, the test is successful.

You can also try using an external switch on some removable media, preventing them, which is written on. These bits of information could go a long way in providing maximum protection for yourremovable devices against malware. (Co-Author: Power-Christians)
